Philosophy:
Buddhist teachings have shaped my creative life. For me, making art is a spiritual practice that honors impermanence and imperfection. When I create, I drop down below the noise of everyday life and listen. Listening with a spirit of curiosity and openness allows the energy of windhorse to move through me. My approach to artmaking is thus spontaneous, intuitive and process-oriented. This guarantees that each work of art is authentic and unique.
One of the questions I reflect on as I’m working is “What do I want people to experience looking at this piece of art?” Art is a direct nonverbal communication, as well as an expression of the artist’s psyche/soul. The more mindfulness I bring to my art practice the clearer that expression. The harmony, purity, and tranquility of wakefulness are threads that weave through my different mediums. These are the qualities I hope to evoke in the viewer.
